The NAC holds collections of original black-and-white photographs from the Sangkum Reastr Niyum and People’s Republic of Kampuchea period as well as colonial period photographs removed for conservation purposes from files of the Fonds of the Resident Superior. The NAC photographic database, which allows searches according to subject categories or captions, includes the photographs that form part of the Charles Meyer Archive and the HCA Elmiger Collection as well as images acquired from other sources. The 6,000 photographs of the Charles Meyer Collection date for the most part from the 1950s and 1960s and cover a wide range of topics; the 1000 photographs of the HCA Elmiger Collection document life and work on the rubber plantations of Kompong Cham province from the 1930s to the 1950s. All in all, the NAC image bank currently contains more than 10,000 photographs on Cambodia from the mid-19th century to the 1980s.
